My name is Joachim, I was born on June 29, 1986 in Groningen (the Netherlands) during a taxiride to the (so called) Martini- hospital; crossing the city’s mainsquare (Grote Markt) and throughout it’s mainstreet (Herestraat). I grew up in the nearby village Eelde-Paterswolde, and later on at the countryside in Kiel-Windeweer. As a teenager, I drew comics that were published in the local newspaper (Nieuwsblad van het Noorden), and when I turned 18 years old, I immediately registered myself at the Dutch chamber of commerce under the name 'Phoenix Vision', starting my very first professional business as a Graphic Designer in desktop publishing (DTP).
When I graduated in multi- mediadesign at the academy for the Arts in Groningen (2010); The world was in the midst of the global financial crisis (2007 - 2014), and I moved to a - twentyfour- squaremeter room in Haren. With just a WiFi- connection (shared with eight student- housemates), and on my hands only a Canon 55D DSLR- camera, my uncle's old racing- bicycle, and a laptop (with Microsoft Office + Adobe Creative Suite); I started working sixty to eighty hours a week on mediaproductions within the Dutch artistic- and cultural sector. I contributed to several academic publications- / presentations, and had a range of commercial assignments from corporate clients in small- to medium-sized businesses (in Dutch: MKB; het midden- en kleinbedrijf).
Considering the quality- control over my creative- work; I prefer to stay independent of government- grands and regulations. To keep the finances- and inspirationflows steady; I started to enjoy the professional sailing of- and working on the renovation and preservation of (historic-) sailing vessels. At home I think I am a calm and friendly person (according to my friends). I love the art of cinematography, and writing + reading (detective) stories. I don’t like sauerkraut and sometimes I wish I had some more musical talents.
